Jackets Fall to Bears

Jackets Fall to Bears

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets traveled to Berkely, California to tangle with the Golden Bears of Cal in a match up of academic rivals.  The Jackets came in with the #1 ranking in the most recent MCLA coaches poll.  The Jackets got on the board first when Matt Seifert found the back of the net.  The Bears tied the game shortly thereafter.  The Jackets created several good looks, but were unable to capitalize on them.  Andrew Belli scored back to back goals to give the Jackets a 3-1 lead early in the second quarter.  The Bears managed to score consecutive goals to tie the game at three.  DJ Louis answered with a goal of his own to nose the Jackets ahead.  Cal responded in less than a minute to tie the game at 4.  Andrew Belli completed his hat trick to start the third quarter.  However, from there the Bears went on a run of their own scoring the next five goals to take a 9-5 lead.  Asher Wagnon scored to pull within three, but the Bears answered back.  The teams traded goals in the fourth quarter as the Bears took the 12-8 win.  The Jackets will have to rebound from their first loss of the season quickly as they will face the Texas Longhorns on Saturday.
