Jackets down Aggies. Move to 8-0 on the season

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets hosted the Texas A&M Aggies on Sunday.  The Jackets wasted no time getting on the board on their first possession when Asher Wagnon fed Joseph Rose for the opening goal.  Wagnon would score himself a few minutes later to put the Jackets ahead by two.  Coming off the ensuring faceoff Nick Eliacin scored in early offense.  A few minutes later Connor Ryan found Eliacin in transition to stretch the lead to 4-0.  The defense lead by Hudson Higgins kept the Aggie offense at bay and forced them to send several shots high and wide.  Ben Skopicki won every faceoff in the quarter helping to keep the pressure on the Aggies.

The Aggies broke through for their first goal early in the second quarter.  The Jackets answered less than two minutes later when they forced a failed clear and then Michael Grosso found Eliacin on the doorstep for the goal.  The Aggies answered back, but the Jackets responded with goals from Eliacin and Brooks Baro less than 30 seconds apart.  The Aggies added one more goal before the Jackets closed the half with three goals of their own including Baro feeding Eliacin with seven seconds left in the half.

The third quarter was more of the same with the Jackets building their lead to 14-5.  At that point the Jackets lost focus briefly allowing the Aggies to storm back to 14-10.  The Jackets found themselves once again and closed the game on a 4-1 run to get the 18-11 win.    The Jackets will now travel across the country to play at the University of California Berkeley in a match up of academic rivals as well as the Texas Longhorns.
