Jackets Ground Eagles

On a cold sunny day in Nashville the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets faced the Boston College Eagles in a neutral site matchup of preseason top ten teams.  The Jackets opened the scoring on their opening possession when Brooks Baro found Joseph Rose on the crease.  Baro gave the Jackets their second goal of the game three minutes later.  Ian Balser added another goal when Pierce Quarles found him in early offense.  The Eagles would respond with two goals of their own to close the quarter.  The Eagles dominated possession in the second quarter as the Jackets struggled to clear the ball; however, Peter Zagrobelny turned away numerous Eagle opportunities.  The Jackets were able to add three goals in the quarter with one from Nick Eliacin and two from Asher Wagnon while the Eagles were only angle to tally one goal giving the Jackets a 6-3 lead at half.  
 
The Jackets solved their clearing woes in the third quarter and were able to add three goals despite the Eagles goal tender making several doorstep saves.  The Eagles added two of their own to end the frame with a 9-5 lead for the Jackets.  
Wagnon added his third goal of the day early in the fourth quarter followed by D.J. Louis scoring his first career goal.  Rose found space late in the game and scored the final three goals as the Jackets closed out the 14-8 win.
 
Ben Skopicki won ten of thirteen face offs to keep feeding the Jacket offense the ball.  Zagrobely finished with sixteen saves to eight goals allowed.
 
The Jackets will have a quick turnaround as they face the Vanderbilt Commodores on Sunday at noon.
