Tech Upends Knights

On a beautiful spring evening the Jackets took to the field for their final home regular season game and raced away from the UCF Knights 18-5. The win moved Tech to 9-3 on the season but more importantly sent the seniors out with an impressive home record of 32-3 since the 2021 season.
In the opening quarter of play with the starting attack scoring all four of the opening stanza goals. Pierce Quarles started the scoring with Joseph Rose chipping in and Brooks Baro scoring the final two of the quarter to lead the Knights 4-0 after one.

Charlie Ciardullo dominated the faceoff spot going 12-12 in the half. Adding those possessions allowed the offense to flow in the second quarter Baro added two more goals as did Rose along with Pierce chipping in one. But the midfield started finding their rhythm as Mike Grosso and Carl Dagher each got in the scoring column with a goal each. The defense was air tight as Hudson Higgins, Mitch Savalli and George Corbin on close defense limited any UCF attack holding the visiting Knights to eight first half shots and limited ability to get into the game. At the half Tech led 11-1

As Tech cleared the bench the overall theme was the same as the opening second half saw Tech respond immediately when Matt Seifert took the opening faceoff ground ball himself to score unassieted 10 seconds into the third quarter. UCF did respond but Augie Worthman, Dj Louis, Asher Bernstein scored consecutive goals to lead Tech to a dominating 15-3 fourth quarter lead.

In the fourth Tech added some more as Mike Grosso got his hat trick and Senior Brendan Sullivan notched his second career goal and Dagher added his second goal. The defense got some great goalie play from Owen Armentrout and Peter Zagrobelny with a combined 10 saves and fellow defensemen Wilson Halloran, Zach Harrison, Noah Stewart, Owen Siebold played great on the defensive side.

The Jackets are off for a weekend and next head to Florida to face the Gators in a rematch of the 2024 SELC Championship game on Saturday, March 29.
