The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets closed out their Virginia trip with a loss to the Virginia Tech Hokies on Saturday. Tech had not played in Blacksburgh for several years and the Hokies having lost for the first time at home since 2022 to the Texas Longhorns were ready for the visiting Tech team.
The Hokies drew first blood on an alley dodge on their first possession. The Jackets tied the game a few minutes later on an extra man opportunity. The Jackets played sloppy lacrosse for the next several minutes allowing the Hokies to build a 4-1 lead at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter was unfortunately more of the same as the listless Yellow Jackets could not find their footing. The Hokies lead 6-2 at halftime.

It seemed as though the Jackets had found some rhythm when they scored early in the third quarter. It was short lived as the Hokies scored the next four goals to lead 10-3 before the Jackets added two goals to get within 10-5 entering the fourth quarter. However the Jackets sloppy play kept setting them back as they never gave up and fought to within 10-8 with just over a minute left before the Hokies added an empty net goal with four seconds left to make the final score 11-8.
The Jackets will host Tennessee and Connecticut next week.
