Jackets Flatten the Mountaineers

On  a sun splashed Roe-Stamps Field, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets moved to 2-0 on the season defeating the West Virginia University Mountaineers.  The Mountaineers came into the game eager for a win after letting their game against Florida State on Saturday slip away.

The Mountaineers began the game in a zone defense which the Jackets do not see often.  It took Tech a few possessions to get comfortable, but eventually they found their groove against the zone and lead 6-0 after the first quarter.

While the offense found their footing, the defense lead by Hudson Higgins, George Corbin, and goalie Owen Armentrout turned the Mountaineers away again and again.

The Jackets kept the pressure on and eventually lead 12-2 at half time.  The second half saw many young Jackets get extensive playing time.  In all 15 Jackets tallied a point in the game.

The Jackets were able to cruise to a 23-9 victory and will next travel to the Auburn Tigers on Friday.
