Jackets Sting Noles!

Jackets Sting Noles!

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Men's Lacrosse Team hosted the Florida State Seminoles to open the 2025 season.  The two teams have faced off in the last SELC tournaments with the Jackets winning both games.

The Jackets got things started early with a goal from senior Brooks Baro 30 seconds into the game.  The Seminoles answered back quickly before the Jackets scored the next four goals to take. A 5-1 lead into the quarter break.

The second quarter was a sloppy up and down affair as the Jackets got away from what they did to build the early lead. Tech built a 7-1 lead before allowing two late goals as  Florida State closed the lead to 7-3 at half.

The third quarter had more back and forth action as both teams found the net multiple times.  The Jackets added five goals in the quarter but allowed six despite largely controlling the game as Florida State took advantage of small errors the Jackets made.

The score was 12-9 entering the fourth quarter.    The fourth quarter was nip and tuck as neither team gave an inch, but the Jackets despite allowing Florida State to get within one never relinquished the lead and closed out the 15-13 win.

Baro finished with seven goals and two assists. Freshman Sam Bueno won 16 of 27 face offs for the Jackets.   Goalie Owen Armentrout finished with 14 saves.

The Jackets will host the West Virginia Mountaineers on Sunday.
