Jackets Fall to Eagles

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets faced the Concordia University Irvine Eagles in the quarterfinals of MCLA National Championship presented by New Balance on Tuesday.  The game was a rematch of a first round matchup from the year before that the Jackets won in the final seconds.
The Eagles got on the board first and quickly extended their lead to two.  The Jackets tied the game on consecutive goals from Devin RaunMichael Grosso and Pierce Quarles added goals to give the Jackets a 4-2 lead.  This would be the only consecutive goal run and the only lead the Jackets would have.  The Eagles scores twice more in the opening quarter to end the frame with the teams tied at four.

The second quarter was more back and forth.  Four times the Eagles would score only to be answered right back by the Jackets.  The half time score was tied 8-8.

Early in the third quarter the same pattern played out again as the Eagles scored early and the Jackets answered back.  The Eagles scored the next four goals to build a 13-9 lead early in the fourth quarter.  Raun scored a goal off a ride to bring the Jackets back within three.  The Eagles would score just as the shot clock expired on their next possession.  To extend the lead to 14-10.  The Jackets would get a final goal from Sam Eck but could not complete the comeback.  The loss will end the season for the Jackets.

The Jackets will say goodbye to an incredible senior class that played in three MCLA Final Fours making the Jackets first appearance in the MCLA championship game, making the Final Four of the 2021 MCLA Invitational and winning the 2023 SELC Championship.
