Jackets Down Gators in SELC Semi-Finals!

In a highly anticipated matchup, the 5th ranked Georgia Tech Men's Lacrosse team traveled to Tallahassee to take on the top-ranked Florida Gators in the SELC semifinals. Despite a delay due to some bad weather, the Jackets were ready to play.

The game started off defensively, with both teams putting up a solid fight. At the end of the first quarter, the score was tied 2-2. The second quarter saw some physical play from both teams, with GT trailing 5-4 at halftime.

The Jackets came out strong in the third quarter, with Nick Witten scoring a gritty goal to tie the game at 5-5. Matt Seifert followed it up with a goal of his own, giving the Jackets their first lead of the game. The game continued to go back and forth, with some impressive saves by GT goalie Peter Zagrobelny, who tallied 15 in the contest.


In the fourth quarter of the SELC semifinals between Georgia Tech and Florida, the Jackets wasted no time in extending their lead. The quarter opened with a faceoff win that led to a quick goal by Aaron Piszczek. This was followed by two more goals from the Jackets, putting them up 12-8 just two minutes into the final frame.

The Gators tried to mount a comeback, but the Jackets' defense stepped up their intensity, causing turnovers and making crucial stops. Georgia Tech was able to control the game for the remainder of the quarter, ending with a final score of 14-10. Pierce Quarles led the Jacket offense with 2 goals and 5 assists.

With this win, the Jackets have secured their spot in the SELC finals and will face off against South Carolina Sunday at 2:30pm in a rematch of last years SELC Championship.
