The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets hosted the Cal Golden Bears on Sunday at a sun splashed Roe Stamps Field. The 11th ranked Bears came to town for a rematch of a 2019 MCAL Semi-Final thriller that saw Cal defeat Georgia Tech in overtime. Both teams took a while to find the back of the net before Sam Eck scored the first of his six goals on the day. Cal tied it up, but Devin Raun scored to give the Jackets the lead once more. Nick Witten scored to put the Jackets ahead by two, but the Bears scored near the end of the quarter to cut Tech's lead to one at the end of the first quarter.
Tech exploded for six goals in the second quarter, but Cal scored four of their own to stay within reach of the Yellow Jackets. In the third quarter Cal dominated possession and cut the lead to one at 10-9, but Tech scored two late goals before Cal added a final goal in the frame to bring the score to 12-10. The Jackets steadied themselves in the fourth and added four more goals while holding Cal to just one. The Jackets won by a final score of 16-11. The Jackets will next face fourth ranked Liberty at Mooresville High School in Mooresville, NC on Saturday March 11.
