Jackets Sweep Palmetto State, Move to 6-0

In a rematch the 2022 SELC and MCLA Championship games the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets were able to defeat the South Carolina Gamecocks.  The Jackets got on the board quickly and lead 2-0 within the first 90 seconds of the game.  The Gamecocks as expected fought back.  The rest of the first half was a back forth defensive fight as both offenses struggled to find space.  The Gamecocks lead 4-3 at the half. The Jackets began to find their footing early in the third quarter.  Nick Witten and Joseph Rose scored to give the Jackets the lead.   South Carolina scored to tie the game once more.  Matt Krecicki scored on a long range extra man goal putting the Jackets in front.  Tech would not relinquish the lead.  The Jackets lead 8-6 after the third quarter and were able to extend their lead in the final frame winning the game 12-7.  The Jacket defense consistently turned away the Gamecocks lead by goalie Owen Armentrout, defensemen Kevin Lewis, Hudson Higgins, Taylor Teasley, and Connor Koelsch. Sophomore faceoff man Aaron Piszczek had a strong game at the faceoff dot. The win guarentees the Jackets a spot in the SELC playoffs.
