The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets opened their long awaited 2021 season on Friday against the Tennessee Volunteers. The Jackets arrived in Knoxville eager to play. Tech got strong performances from players up and down the roster. Newcomers Pierce Quarles, Brooks Baro, Curran Meyers, and Max Lucas made strong impressions in their debut. The Jackets took the lead early and did not relinquish it throughout the game, scoring in nearly every phase. The Tech defense was stout, holding the Vols to five goals. The Jackets will need to recover quickly as they face a supremely talented Liberty Flames team on Saturday.
