Jackets Stumble Against Wildcats

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets faced the University of New Hampshire Wildcats on Sunday on a sun-drenched Roe Stamps Field.  Tech took control early amassing a 7-2 lead in the second quarter and held a 8-5 lead at halftime after a late Wildcat run.  The teams traded goals to start the second half.  Then the Wildcats took over the game.  They took advantage of several gaffes from the Yellow Jackets and maintained possession for the vast majority of the last 20 minutes of the game.  Tech was plagued by sloppy play and were baited into several poor decisions in the clearing game.  The Wildcats took advantage of the second chance possessions and shot clock resets taking their first lead at 11-10 in the third quarter before Nick Witten tied the game.  UNH took the lead 12-11 in the fourth before Tyler Siefert tied the game once again.  Both teams had chances to take the lead before UNH called timeout before scoring what proved to be the game winning goal with under a minute left in the game.  Tech won the ensuing faceoff and called timeout.  The Jackets offense was stifled by the Wildcats once more before calling their final timeout with fourteen seconds left.  Tech was able to get a good look at the cage, but the Wildcat keeper was up to the task and turned Tech away once more to ice the game.
