Tech Takes Down #1 South Carolina

Georgia Tech took down the defending national champion South Carolina Gamecocks on Friday night 15-5.  The Gamecocks had the the early advantage after two transition goals.  The Jackets however were not deterred and stormed back closing the first quarter with a 5 goal run.  The second quarter belonged to the Jackets as they extended the lead to 8-2 at half.  The defending champions would not go quietly into the dark night as they traded goals with Tech to start the third quarter, but the Jackets were able to steady themselves and build their lead to the final score of 15-5 over the previously undefeated Gamecocks.  The Jackets were lead by a strong defensive effort lead by Sam Ranck and Taylor Teasley and backstopped by Gino Pagliaro.    Offensively the Jackets were balanced with 6 players recording multi-point games.  9 of the Jackets 15 goals were assisted.  After the Gamecocks lead 2-0, the Jackets scored 15 of the next 18 goals.
