Jackets Turn Away Volunteers

Jackets Turn Away Volunteers

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket Men's Lacrosse team took on the Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday.  On a sunny but blustery day the Jackets were slow to start.  The Jackets created good scoring opportunities early, but could not convert them to goals.  The Volunteer goalie turned away several early shots.  The Volunteers took an early lead after the Jackets failed to score during a long possession.  The Jackets tied the game but Tennessee again took the lead to close the first quarter with a 2-1 lead.  The Jackets tied the game again before the Volunteers once again took the lead 3-2.  Freshman Jake Kotzian scored to tie the game with thirty seconds left in the second quarter.

The pattern repeated itself to start the second half as the Volunteers opened the scoring in the third quarter. At that point the Jackets managed to steady themselves.  The Jackets were able convert on the looks they created as the game wore on and closed the game on a 7-1 run to win 10-5.  The Jackets will travel to the University of South Carolina for their next game on Friday March 18.
